Boris Ler

Actor, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Boris Ler was born in Sarajevo on the 24th of February 1985, where he went to primary and secondary school, and then studied at the Academy of Performing Arts from 2003 to 2007. He became a member of the Kamerni Teatar 55 ensemble in Sarajevo immediately after graduation, and he has performed numerous roles there.

 

In addition to the theater, Boris also acts in films and series, both in local, regional and international production. His first feature film and the first leading role was in the film CIRKUS COLUMBIA, directed by Danis Tanović, and after that film their collaboration continued throughout the years - a short film PRTLJAG in 2011, then SMRT U SARAJEVUin 2014, DESET UPOLA 2021 and the feature series KOTLINA in 2022.

 

Boris had a significant role in Angelina Jolie's debut film IN THE LAND OF BLOOD AND HONEY (2010). He went to England in 2014. There in 2017 he filmed the sci-fi film THE CALL UP, directed by Charles Barker and produced by a company “Deblokade” from Sarajevo, and the film MUŠKARCI NE PLAČU directed by Alen Drljević and PUN MJESEC directed by Nermin Hamzagić (2019). 

 

In 2020, he collaborated with director Jasmila Žbanić on the film QUO VADIS AIDA, a film that was of great importance for local, regional and world film production, which would be crowned with an Oscar nomination, in addition to all the other awards he had won. The collaboration with director Žbanić continued in 2023 on the series ZNAM KAKO DIŠEŠ, where she is the creator and showrunner, and the series is directed by Nermin Hamzagić and Alen Drljević.
