Miroslav Sikavica
Director
Miroslav Sikavica is a film director and screenwriter. He graduated in Comparative Literature and Croatian Language from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and in Film and Television Directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. He has directed numerous television documentary formats and works, including more than thirty episodes of the youth documentary series DIREKT (2002-2012) broadcasted on Croatian Television (HTV). His feature documentary debut, THE CLOUD (2011), won Best Film at the Liburnia Film Festival, as well as awards for editing and production at the Croatian Film Days, and is still screened in campaigns against youth violence. His short fiction film THE BEAST (2016) premiered at the Directors' Fortnight program at the Cannes Film Festival, receiving an honourable mention, and was screened at over sixty international festivals. His latest auteur film, the feature documentary LOUDER THAN GUNS (2017), had its international premiere at the Trieste Film Festival and its national premiere at the Motovun Film Festival, winning Best Film at DORF and being distributed in independent cinemas in Croatia. He was an artistic advisor to the Croatian Audiovisual Centre for short fiction films. Since 2019, he is a pre-selector and program advisor for ZagrebDox, an international documentary film festival. He is a co-author of the Museum of Personal Stories and a mentor in the screenplay program of the Croatian Film Directors' Guild for the development of documentary series. MILCH COW is his debut feature fiction film.
