Ivan Marinović
Director
Ivan Marinović, born in 1984 in Kotor, is an award-winning Montenegrin film director, screenwriter, and producer. He graduated in Industrial Design from the Politecnico di Milano in 2007, and earned an MA in Film Directing from FAMU in Prague, in 2011. His debut feature film, THE BLACK PIN, premiered in the Competition Program of the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2016. The film screened at more than 50 international and regional festivals, winning a dozen awards, and was Montenegro’s official submission for the Academy Awards. His second feature film, FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE, had its world premiere in the Official Competition Program of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2023. With more than 40,000 cinema admissions, the film also gained recognition at regional and European festivals, receiving the critics’ award FEDEORA, along with numerous acting awards. Ivan directed the TV series HOTEL***, starring Nikola Đuričko in the leading role, and also worked on the project as a co-writer. He is the co-producer of ALL ALONE by Bobo Jelčić (Heart of Sarajevo Award for Best Film in 2019), WORKING CLASS GOES TO HELL by Mladen Đorđević (Toronto International Film Festival), and YUGO FLORIDA by Vladimir Tagić (Sarajevo Film Festival). He has given guest lectures at FAMU - Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and held a Master Class at Chapman University in California. He is a member of the European Film Academy - EFA.
