Maurilio Mangano

Casting Director

Maurilio Mangano born in Palermo, Sicily, is an Italian casting director whose work sits between European auteur cinema and international productions. He specializes in street casting and develops research at the intersection of performance practices, new technologies, and music, exploring how these elements can expand the actor’s presence and reactivate their vitality even within digital environments. He has collaborated with directors such as Joe Wright (M: SON OF THE CENTURY), Pablo Larraín (MARIA), Luca Guadagnino (QUEER), Angelina Jolie (WITHOUT BLOOD), Gianni Amelio (BATTLEFIELD), Marco Bellocchio (THE TRAITORKIDNAPPEDPORTOBELLO), Emma Dante (A STREET IN PALERMOTHE MACALUSO SISTERSMISERICORDIA), Piero Messina (ANOTHER END), Carolina Cavalli (THE KIDNAPPING OF ARABELLA), and Daniel Espinosa (MADAME LUNA). He is the founder of Studio 404 Casting, based in Rome and a member of the Unione Casting Director Italiani (UICD), the Casting Society (CSA), the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA), the European Film Academy (EFA), the Accademia del Cinema Italiano – Premi David di Donatello, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). In 2025, Maurillo won the David di Donatello for Best Casting for VERMIGLIO and received several national and international nominations, including the Nastri d’Argento, the Semiramis Award, and the Artios Awards for Best International Television Series.
