Sebastian Cavazza

Actor

Sebastian Cavazza was born in 1973. In 1992 he enrolled in the study of acting at the AGRFT, where he graduated in 1999 in the class of Prof. Mile Korun and Prof. Matjaž Zupančič. Since enrolling at the Akademija za Gledališče, Radio, Film in Televizijo (AGRFT), he has been deeply and intensively involved in professional theatre, radio, television, and film projects. In 1995, he was one of the co-founders of the Studio for the Research of the Art of Acting (S.Z.R.U.I.), established by Prof. Tomi Janežič. That same year, he received an EFA (European Film Academy) scholarship for a workshop entitled ACTORS – DIRECTORS – INTERACTION, led by Belgian director André Delvaux at the European Film College in Ebeltoft, Denmark. He graduated in modern acting techniques with a thesis entitled Working on Yourself, and in 2000 enrolled in a specialist postgraduate study in film directing, which he did not complete due to excessive work and the birth of children. Between 1992 and 2003, he had the opportunity and privilege to participate in various international acting workshops with important acting professors from all over the world, such as: Vladimir Davidovic Tarasenko, André Delvaux, David Zinder, Joanna Merlin, Scott Fielding, Jill Edwards, Ed Covens, Lee Delong, among others.

He has also led several acting workshops: in Ljubljana (1995–2020), Bogotá, Colombia (FESTIVAL DE TEATRO IBEROAMERICANO DE BOGOTÁ, April 2000), POETIKA at the 15th LIFFE (LJUBLJANA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, November 2004), in Munich (City of Munich for the Department of Arts and Culture, Office for Cultural Education, International Relations and Urban Culture, Spring 2015), and was a guest lecturer for public speaking at the Academy of Protocol in 2018 and 2019. He also led a masterclass in acting in front of the camera at the SVŠGL in October 2019. In his career, he has created more than 80 roles in theatre, more than 80 roles in front of the camera, dubbed more than 40 animated films, and participated in more than 50 different radio plays. His specialty is that he has acted in more than 15 foreign languages and has never been dubbed for a role in a foreign language. Since 2010, he has been employed at MESTNO GLEDALIŠČE LJUBLJANSKO (MGL), where he has played numerous supporting and character roles as a repertoire holder with the title of champion. At the 48th INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL IN BELGRADE, he was president of the international expert jury for the main competition program in 2020. He was also the first president of the SLOVENIAN AUDIOVISUAL ACTORS' GUILD (DSI). In 2024, he served as a member of the jury of the main competition program at the SARAJEVO FILM FESTIVAL. Since 2020, he has been a professor of film acting at the Akademija za Gledališče, Radio, Film in Televizijo (AGRFT) and a member of the expert council of the SLOVENIAN FILM CENTER (SFC). In recent years, he has also been dedicating himself to directing stage plays.
